The TRNC Post Office has released an updated list of items and products that are prohibited from being sent in parcels arriving in Northern Cyprus. The list includes medications, precious metals, and certain financial documents.
“Based on our previous experience, it is very important that our citizens are aware of the list of items that cannot be transported. This is important for both the health of the people and the safety of transportation, so that postal items are formed taking into account these lists,” the Post Office Department said in a statement.
List of items that cannot be sent to the TRNC by mail:
- Flammable, explosive, poisonous, narcotic substances, as well as all kinds of liquids and gases.
- Any cargo with sharp points, cutting edges, protruding beyond the packaging.
- Any food products that may deteriorate, be damaged, or affect surrounding cargo.
- Meat and meat products, milk and dairy products, eggs.
- Any fragile items – glass, porcelain, etc.
- Firearms and their parts.
- Electronics, batteries, and magnets.
- All kinds of medicines, herbs, and tobacco.
- Tea and coffee (over the specified weight).
- Biological and radioactive substances that may decompose.
- Checks, bills of exchange, share certificates, bonds, etc., which are related to negotiable instruments.
- Gold and silver, jewelry, precious metals, money, and similar goods.
- All kinds of substances prohibited from purchase, sale, and transportation by the relevant legislation.
The department also reminded that the sender is responsible for compliance with the legislation of the country of destination.

- Precious metals: Gold, silver, platinum, and other precious metals are prohibited in any form, including jewelry, coins, and bullion.
- Financial documents: Checks, bills of exchange, share certificates, bonds, and other financial documents are prohibited.
- Other prohibited items: Firearms, ammunition, weapons, pornography, and counterfeit goods are also prohibited.
