February 14, 2024 – Pegasus Airlines, a Turkish low-cost carrier, has announced updates to its fare structure, including new names for existing fares and changes to carry-on baggage allowances. The new rules will apply to tickets purchased on or after February 14, 2024.
Changes to Fare Names and Carry-On Allowances
The following changes will be made to Pegasus’ fare structure:
- Basic fare is now called Light. Passengers on this fare will only be allowed to bring one personal item under the seat, such as a small backpack or handbag, with a maximum size of 40x30x15 cm and weight of 3 kg. This fare is only available on international flights; all domestic flights include a standard carry-on allowance.
- Essentials fare is now called Saver. Passengers on this fare will be allowed to bring one personal item under the seat and one standard carry-on bag, with a maximum size of 55x40x20 cm and weight of 8 kg. Checked baggage allowance on Saver fares is up to 15 kg for domestic flights and 20 kg for international flights.
- Advantage fare is now called Saver Plus. Passengers on this fare will have the same carry-on allowance as Saver fare passengers, plus a checked baggage allowance of 20 kg on all flights. They will also be able to choose their seat in advance and receive a complimentary sandwich on board.
- Comfort Flex fare remains unchanged. Passengers on this fare will have the same carry-on and checked baggage allowances as Saver Plus passengers, plus the ability to choose their seat, including seats with extra legroom, and to make one free change or cancellation to their ticket without penalty.
What Do These Changes Mean for Passengers?
The changes to Pegasus’ fare structure will have a number of implications for passengers.
- Passengers on Basic fares will no longer be able to bring a standard carry-on bag on board. This could be a significant inconvenience for passengers who need to bring more than one personal item with them on their flight.
- Passengers on Essentials and Advantage fares will have a slightly reduced checked baggage allowance on domestic flights. This could be an issue for passengers who are traveling with a lot of luggage.
- Passengers on Comfort Flex fares will continue to enjoy the same benefits as before. However, the price of this fare may increase due to the inclusion of extra benefits.
Pegasus Airlines has not yet announced any changes to its pricing structure. However, it is likely that the prices of the different fares will be adjusted to reflect the changes in carry-on baggage allowances and other benefits.
